I’ve been making this beauty smoothie for the past couple of weeks and wanted to share my recipe. I usually drink it in the morning before my workout, or as a snack between lunch and dinner. I call it the beauty smoothie because it has a lot of skin benefits! It contains collagen, as well as a scoop of the Amazing Grass Antioxidant Super Food. It also contains fresh berries for added benefits and a delicious berry flavor.
Lets go over the two major skin benefits of this smoothie.
- Collagen: Collagen has many benefits for the body. As for the skin, it helps give it a plump and supple appearance which in turn reduces fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps provide elasticity to the skin making it appear more youthful. As a bonus, this also means it can help get rid of cellulite by increasing the elasticity and thickness of the skin. Not too bad! I use the Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides (1scoop) in my smoothie. Vital Proteins also has a Beauty Collagen, which is basically the same but with hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid helps your skin stay hydrated.
- Antioxidants: The Amazing Grass Antioxidant has 15,000 ORAC units per serving. Antioxidants with high ORAC values help convert free radicals into harmless waste that gets eliminated from the body. Free radicals can cause skin damage and break down the collage in your skin. Including antioxidants in your diet will help with production of collagen, minimize wrinkles, and reduce age spots.
For a delicious berry flavor, I add a cup of blueberries (which are also a great antioxidant) and strawberries. I don’t even add a sweetener to it because it just doesn’t need it. They berry flavors come through and that’s all you need. Check out the recipe below!
