I’ve been wanting to visit Chicago during the holiday season for a while now, and last week I finally made it up there! The weather ended up being perfect for the occasion. It was nice and cold (below 20) but there was no snow. Although it would have been beautiful to see the snow, it was actually much easier to get around and do things without it.
I was just there for 2 full days but was able to do everything I wanted. One of the main things I wanted to do was visit the big Christkindle Market. If you don’t know about this market, it is a German Christmas market where booths and stores filled with Christmas ornaments and German food. I bought a couple of gnome gifts and of course an ornament for my tree.
I also wanted to go ice skating outdoors. I found a cool ice rink in downtown Chicago that is not your typical rink. The rink is called the skating ribbon since you skate on a quarter mile long trail. Last up was the Lincoln Park zoolights. They are pretty much your average zoo light display but, since I’d never been to one before this was the perfect opportunity to go.
Watch the video below to see what Christmas in Chicago is like! Also, I went ahead and did a room tour from my room at the Thompson Hotel. The hotel was in a perfect location close to Magnificent Mile and plenty of restaurants.
