It’s been a while but I’m back with a San Antonio Vlog (watch below)! In May, for my wedding anniversary, me and my husband took a weekend trip to San Antonio. We hadn’t been there in quite a few years so we decided to go and see what was new. He actually surprised me the day before we left! On the way there, we wanted to stop by Shiner, to visit the Shiner brewery. After having a beer in Shiner, we also stop in Gonzalez, which is where the battle of Gonzalez was fought. They have the original canon there as well as other artifacts of that time. It was pretty cool and interesting to see. It didn’t take much time, maybe an hour and a half or so, but if you are a history buff and want to learn about Texas you should definitely stop by and visit.
In San Antonio, we visited one of the Spanish missions there, the Mission San Jose. I had never visited any of the missions, aside from the Alamo. I’d hoped to visit the other missions but it was raining almost all day, so that will have to be for another time. For dinner, we went to a new restaurant that just opened the week prior. We actually go to this restaurant in Fredericksburgh, and since the menu is a bit different here we had to check it out! It was delicious and I definitely recommend it!
We stayed at the Thompson Hotel right off the river walk, a new hotel that opened in February. We stayed at the Thompson in Chicago so was familiar with it. They have a really great roof top lounge which you can visit even if you aren’t a guest there. It has great views of San Antonio, great music, and good drinks!
